In this second session, Fr. John reflects on catechesis 3 & 4 from Pope Francis reflecting on the need to develop a friendship with Christ and to know ourselves. Both are required to assess situations and know how we react so that we can make the best choices each day.

Fr. John introduces and reflects on the first two sessions of catechesis on disernment that Pope Francis offered as a series during papal audiences on Wednesdays at the Vatican. How can we best make the right decisions that allows us to follow the Lord and be filled with grace?

Session 1 focuses on the season of GIFTS & CALL at the Chatham Catholic Family of Parishes while also reflecting on what it means to discern and the life of St. Ignatius of Loyola.

Lent is a wonderful time to look at the areas of our lives that need repair, upgrades and renovation. We need to embrace a new perspective on Christ and how we are supposed to live our lives. Are you ready to climb up the mountain and seek change?

Our Lenten journey seeks to radically change our lives---drawing closer to Christ who brings us true joy through the living water of love, mercy, grace and peace He offers each of us.  Will we seek the well of 'living water' or will we simply be be preoccupied with the well that always runs dry and leaves us thirsty for truth, meaning and purpose?

Lent is a season to gain perspective, receive encouragement and grow in confidence---not being afraid!!  The gospel this weekend invites us to see things differently so that we can be faithful and loving disciples of the Lord!!

Fr. John concludes the message series challenging us to say YES OR NO choosing to follow Christ or ourselves.  May we always make the right choice.

Happy Lent everyone!!  We enter into the 40 days of this holy season and we hear Jesus lead by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil.  Jesus was tempted to be someone other than himself----Lent helps us stay true to who God has made us to be.  The source of our happiness is to live as God made us---sharing who we are and what we have with others as faithful disciples.

The gospel this weekend encourages us to go the extra mile and discover the heart and passion of our faith.  We are called to be more righteous than the scribes and Pharisees while seeking to reconcile with one another.  Our faith is not about following rules but having a love for Christ and others.  May we allow the Lord to bring our lives to fulfillment!!
