Who do you say that I am?  Jesus puts this powerful question before the Apostles and all of us this Sunday.  How do we answer this question?  Who is Jesus for us? A friend, a helper, a guide or someone we talk to only when we are in trouble?  Or is Jesus our Master, King and all?  

Jesus heals a man who is deaf and cannot speak.  This powerful grace offered to this person in the gospel of Mark this weekend is offered to each of us too---so that we are always open to Christ in everything we do.  Listen as Fr. John talks about the second great miracle in this story!!

We can sometimes put things out of order or disconnect them from the heart of matters.  Jesus deals with this in the gospel this coming Sunday as some Pharisees and scribes don't understand why His disciples are not following some human traditions.  Listen and find out more!!

"Lord, to whom can we go?  You have the words of eternal life."  This is what we hear in the coming Sunday Gospel proclaimed by St. Peter.  Can we say the same when we go to Mass this weekend?  We continue to hear from John's gospel as Jesus teaches about the gift of the Eucharist.  Do we truly comprehend the great gift of Christ that we receive each time we are at Mass?  Do His words bring us eternal life?

This Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Mary, the mother of Jesus and the Church is assumed into heaven at the end of her earthly life.  Not only is Mary honoured for her YES to be the Mother of God, but she is the fulfillment of the Church.  Our Blessed Mother teaches us faithfulness, discipleship and the heavenly rewards that are given to all of us who courageously follow Christ.

Do you really know who Jesus is?  How can he be the "Bread of Life"?  Listen and find out how we can get to know Jesus better and start experiencing eternal life right here and now.

The gift of the Eucharist is Jesus himself---the BREAD OF LIFE!!  Jesus offers us eternal life here and now when we embrace him as our Lord, Master and Messiah.  May the Lord complete and fulfill our lives so we can do that for others!!

In the gospel this weekend Jesus asks the disciples to feed the large crowd with a few fish and a few loaves of bread.  An impossible task---yet with Jesus things that seem impossible become possible.  If we rely on ourselves we can do nothing, but if we rely on Christ, all things are possible.

Jesus is the Good Shepherd who has compassion for his sheep.  We are transformed by God's love to become shepherds for others offering strength, grace and healing.  How can we be shepherds in our world today in the midst of the tragic discoveries of unmarked graves near former Indian residential schools?  Only through and with Christ can we seek to reconcile the past while also forging a better future.
