In the second homily of this series, Fr. John talks about the need to approach the gift of our faith as being students of the Master---Jesus Christ.  We come to church each week to learn and grow becoming like the Master---being sent out to be Jesus in our world.  We need to listen better and two of the ways to do that is to include more silence in our lives and savouring the mundane sounds around us.

A good heart bears good fruit and an evil heart bears evil fruit.  We are called to bear good fruit in this world and that can only be done when we let Christ into our hearts.  God's grace transforms us into disciples who share the light of the Gospel.  How can we do that today?  Listen to find out.

Fr. John begins a new message series called CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? by talking about the noise in our world today.  We are overwhelmed and cannot understand God or one another.  We are too caught up with broadcasting and not listening which then does not allow us to understand.  As faithful disciples we are called to follow Christ by first listening with our minds and hearts to God and each other.  This is the only way we can bring grace, light and hope in the world.

The list is long in the gospel today on how we are called to live as faithful disciples.  All of it makes sense but easier said than done.  What can help us be Christ in our world today?  Listen and find out.

Jesus in the gospel this weekend offers blesses and woes for us.  The Good News of the gospel fulfills, completes and restores.  May we be faithful disciples who share the Good News with those in most need!!

Fr. John concludes this message series by reflecting on the gospel as Jesus takes Peter and others out into the deep waters for a catch!!  Jesus enters into our lives and challenges us to trust him and go out into the unknown to catch people with His grace, love and mercy!!  Like the saints, we need to live our story as part of the bigger story of God's love in this world.

The gospel this weekend teaches us to follow Jesus into the deep waters trusting where he leads us as we seek to be fishers of people.  Where is the Lord calling us today to trust in him as faithful and loving disciples?  Listen and find out.

Jesus returns home and reads from the prophet Isaiah declaring that the hopes of the Old Testament is being fulfilled.  Jesus proclaims hope, light, freedom and joy telling all those in the synagogue and us today--that this scripture is being fulfilled in hearing it.  Jesus is the Messiah to save us all.

In the second homily of Fr. John's message series called "THE STORY OF YOUR LIFE" he shares how the gift of the Holy Spirit, given to us through Christ, draws us close to God and one another.  The Holy Spirit is key for us to live our story to the fullest by placing God at the centre of our own stories.  We also learn what is needed in our lives to live God's story.  We are all part of the one body of Christ---important and necessary.  Fr. John also shares some of his favourite shows and stories!!

Jesus reads from the prophet Isaiah in the gospel this Sunday---he tells all those who are listening that the Old Testament scripture is being fulfilled before their eyes.  Jesus proclaims his mission of healing, freedom, truth and joy that the Father can only offer us----Jesus does this through his passion, death and resurrection!!  This is our mission too!!
